Access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre remains restricted, with authorities strictly controlling the number of visitors allowed inside The post Watch Live from Jerusalem: Holy Fire ceremony at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre appeared first on ProtoThema English.
In an unusual and tense atmosphere for the Easter period, the Holy Sites in Jerusalem have reopened to worshipers following their temporary closure at the onset of hostilities in the region. Despite reopening, security measures remain extremely tight. Entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is limited, with authorities carefully regulating attendance and preventing large crowds from gathering. This year’s scene differs significantly from previous years, as turnout is lower and the atmosphere remains heavy under the shadow of the ongoing conflict. For security reasons, the Greek mission consists of three members. The Holy Fire will be transported to Athens by the head of the mission and government representative, Deputy Foreign Minister for Diaspora Affairs Giannis Loverdos, along with the Exarch of the Holy Sepulchre in Athens and a representative of the Holy Synod. The Greek delegation will attend the ceremony, after which, at the Patriarchate, Patriarch Theophilos III will hand over the Holy Fire to Loverdos. If all goes according to schedule, the flight is expected to arrive at Elefsina Air Base at approximately 18:30, from where the Holy Fire will be distributed across the country.
